One Hot Minute ended up being Navarro's only album with the group, who went on to release Californication in 1999. Those sessions were abandoned and Jane's Addiction man Navarro was later replaced by John Frusciante, who he had replaced in 1993.
There are a few Usenet postings from the early 2000s that could help track down its original source, as it seemed to have leaked only a few months after the album came out. In the late 1990’s, the Red Hot Chili Peppers were on their last leg with Jane’s. It is believed to have been recorded as the band were writing for what would have been the follow-up to 1995's One Hot Minute. How it leaked out after that is unknown, but there are several different versions of it floating around and it is most peoples preferred version of the album due to its better sound quality.
